How to prepare a
welder certificate?
This series of blog will give you an idea about the preparation of a welder certificate as per
ASME BPVC Sec IX.
To start with the prepration, ASME sec IX gives us
a sample form for welder certificate.
Refer QW-484a :
Suggested Format A for welder performance qualification.
This is a nonmandatory
format, that means this format can be modified according to users wish but
should contain the essential variables of welder qualification.
We will try to fill
the form with a sample condition.
CASE 1:
Welder qualification
test done on pipe
Diameter of pipe:
2"
Thickness of Pipe :
5.54mm
MOC: SA106 GrB
Position tested: 6G
Welding Process:
GTAW
The welder test
coupon is radiographed and found accepted. The radiography test results are
recorded in a radiography test report with report no: RT/WQT/01
Dt:01/01/2020
We will start filling the format given in QW-484a. We will do some modifications by adding the below details.
1. Name of the organisation who does the welder qualification.
2. Project name, Project for which the welder is qualified.
3. Client name, Client for that project.
4. Consultant name (if
any)
5. Third Part
inspection agency name (if any)
6. We will allot a space for affixing the photo of the welder for easy identification.
7. As a good
documentation practice we can add a format number and revision for the modified format that we made for the welder certificate.
This series will continue...
Good Sir!!
