Can we differentiate CS and LTCS?

How can we differentiate LTCS and CS?

How can we identify LTCS from CS?

Can LTCS be detected by PMI?
These are some common questions we face at work site, where Carbon Steel(CS) and Low Temperature  Carbon Steel (LTCS)  are used.

The answer is NO,  unless there is a clear marking/ traceability.

SA-106 Grade B : Specification For Seamless Carbon Steel Pipe For High-Temperature Service.

SA-333 Grade 6 : Seamless and Welded Steel Pipe for Low-Temperature Service and Other Applications with Required Notch Toughness

Please see the below table for the chemical composition of LTCS and CS for their pipe form. There is no remarkable difference from which PMI methods can differentiate both. So we cannot differentiate LTCS and CS materials with out marking/identification.
