Certified welders Vs Qualified welders.
There is a difference
between qualified welders and certified welders. Qualified welders are those
welders who are qualified according to some project standards. Certified
welders are those who are certified by an international organisation.
International certifications for welders.
Below are some of the
famous international certification schemes for welders.
1. AWS certified
welder : The program is conducted by American Welding Society (AWS). The

2. TWI Certified
welder : The program is conducted by TWI. The details of the same can be

Indian certifications for welders.
Below are the
certification schemes for welders in India.
1. Indian Boiler
Regulations-1950 : IBR approved welder can weld boilers and other items
that comes under IBR purview. The details can be found in the link given

2. National
welder training and certification scheme : This is conducted by Indian
institute of welding. The details can be found in the link given below.
Special welders:
Some project requires
special welders. Some of the special welder requirement are as below.
1. Welder who can weld
with both left hand and right hand.
2. welder who can weld
with left hand. (In India most welders are right hand welders)3. Welder who can
do welding looking in to mirror ( of joints which cannot be seen directly)
Welding as a career.
Not many are now
coming to the field of welding. Previously it was not the case. One Welder will
come with a helper for one project, by the end of the project that helper will
become a good welder. For the next project these two welders will bring two
helpers and this series continuous.
Good technicians are
available, but remunerations are less. Welders are now trying to get
international projects for making money.
Attracting, training
and retaining welders are the actions that construction companies to take up,
so that the pool of technicians can be well maintained.
